So I’m sitting in the Gothic center of Barcelona reading this…
The image of a man you do not see – Roger Ebert’s Journal
And just to add to the mix, this morning I went and saw the German Pavilion; built by Mies.
I never liked the Tribune Towers or the Wrigley building. However, I love federal plaza but not IBM Plaza.
They look the same but they’re not!
Everything is about situation and the surrounding area. It’s why the Berlin Jewish Museum is so good and the Imperial War Museum in Manchester so bad; yet the actual buildings are so similar.
Try it again; Bilbao Guggenheim is amazing and the Walt Disney Concert hall a poor copy.
Which brings me back to Barcelona, it works because the mixture is mixed so well.
