Venture Capital as Collateral Damage

What will be interesting with this…

Venture Capital as Collateral Damage

…is how it will change places like Silicon valley, glen and fen. Governments have spend amazing amounts of money in the last 25 years trying to attract VCs as a way to grow economies. Is that now dead or just a return to normal?

The book The New New Thing now seems like not just another era but another world.

How about sometime after it works! Today this supposed key technology has not worked on OSX 10.6 since its launch. It still hasn’t been launched on Windows Mobile.

If a technology is key to both your future and multi-platform, it’s good for it to work on multiple platforms. Who would use the technology as it is now? Sell your software on this technology and it wouldn’t work for a month. Madness.

The Economist

Dear Reader,

I’d like to inform you about important changes at Economist.com.

Beginning October 13th, we will be limiting access to certain sections of our site to subscribers only. Over the past few years, Economist.com has become a hub for intelligent discussion, with news commentary, blogs and an award-winning debate series. We will continue to encourage both subscribers and non-subscribers to participate in those conversations. We will also enhance the experience we offer our most loyal readers by expanding our subscribers-only features.

Currently, all content published within the last year is free of charge. Soon, this access will be limited to articles published within the last 90 days. The print edition contents page, which offers a convenient way to browse articles and features from the latest issue of The Economist, will also be limited to subscribers only.

Through these complementary aspects of Economist.com, we will continue to foster intelligent discussion and debate, while enhancing the value we bring to our community of subscribers.

I hope you’ll continue to visit the site and enjoy all it has to offer.

Sincerely,
Ben Edwards

Well it’s nice of him to hope that I’ll visit the site. However, that’s all it is…hope.

Years ago I used to read every article and was a subscriber. Then I bought it about once a month. Then I read it online when I had the time. However, the value of the magazine is close to zero, and therefore the chances that I’ll pay to read incorrect predictions is zero as well.

First Look: Newry Railway Station, Northern Ireland by Robinson McIlwaine Architects | News | Architects Journal

Seriously, I like the entrance but why does the rest look like a distribution centre for Wall-Mart?

Bad planning…

I know next to nothing about this plan but a 43 story tower on the South Bank of London is madness.

London looks more and more a mess of towers that try an shout how unique they are at you. Dubai in northern Europe!
