Seriously, there is a ten minute walk between the first and second stores in Paris. What concentration are they aiming for?
I’m still loving the Orwell diaries. Reading about the early days of the war, day by day, is fantastic.
However, the shock has been how little has changed over the years. This sounds true of the papers today…
“The New Leader[4] is now talking about the “betrayal” by Pétain and Co. and the “workers’ struggle” against Hitler. Presumably they would be in favour of a “worker’s” resistance if Hitler invaded England. And what will the workers fight with? With weapons. Yet the I.L.P. clamour simultaneously for sabotage in the arms factories. These people live almost entirely in a masturbation fantasy, conditioned by the fact that nothing they say or do will ever influence events, not even the turning-out of a single shell.”

It’s a horrible place.
Every single detail on every building is badly finished. It’s the Amstrad of towns.

The best information on the Internet always seems to come from a single guy in his basement. Never the large organizations.
“Considerable excitement today over the French surrender, and people everywhere to be heard discussing it.”
A lot has been written about the French football team basically giving up. However, I’ve not seen anyone notice the date. It was the 70th anniversary of the surrender of France in World War II.
I’m almost disappointed by The Sun.
This single dialog box is the worst bit of design that I know. Every time I see it I wonder about the tortured soul who had to program it.
![The most awkward possible use of the word “only”? The dialog above is part of IE8, and it is intentionally confusing. The intent is to trick you into clicking “Yes” unless you carefully parse every word above.By clicking No, you’re saying “No, I want to see everything on the page.” They’re trying to err on the side of security, but in doing so, they’re knowingly confusing the user. And that should never be considered the safer choiceInstead, why not two simple buttons:[Show Me Everything] [Block Insecure Content](Prompted by Gruber’s link to this Smileycat bit about another confusing Yes/No dialog box.)](http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_l43kzswmvc1qz56g8o1_500.png)
“But I wonder how long it will be before we see the same being made available for French property listings and what impact that will have on many of the estate agency businesses in France?”
