10 Years of Daring Fireball…

It’s the blog that I check first and the only one where I have the T-shirt! It’s been an interesting ten years. I started reading before I understood what he was talking about.

I think that Gruber’s writing has had too much influence on me. When I started reading I didn’t own a single Apple product or admit to liking 2001 too much!

Distant Shape: 10 Years of Daring Fireball.

The future of the corporate computer…

The future of the corporate computer – One Man and His Blog.

OK so we all agree that this is the future of corporate computing. It’s what the users want and the good employees want this flexibility. Do we know of anyone that is actually implementing this today rather than just openning up Outlook to iPads?

As an interesting aside; the corporate move to HTML was initially sold to allow a move this sort of flexibility. The move to HTML is now almost complete and there is no no excuse. Wonder what reason they’ll find at HQ to push this down the road?

Apps vs. HTML 5…

Are Apps that much more valuable HTML 5?

A Little Devil’s Advocacy on iPad Subs – One Man and His Blog

I think that only Apple has realized that the App Store is so valuable because it’s not full of the rubbish that fills a Google results page.

Will Google understand this?

New MozyHome Plans…

New MozyHome Plans

Seriously bad news. The unlimited plan was great for photographers.

I think that I’ll look for another service or way of doing this when my renewal is up.

Unforeseeable growth…

This is lovely.

You’re supposed to believe that financial analysts have a better understanding of a market and a company than everyone else.

The BEST prediction was out by 100%.

This is now a 7 billion dollar product for Apple. 7 BILLION!

Internet usage…

825.1 million – Internet users in Asia.

475.1 million – Internet users in Europe.

266.2 million – Internet users in North America.

The USA is now a small outpost of the internet!

Wrong about the iPad…

“Whatever the collection of reasons, the iPad seems to be the first Apple product that corporate IT shops are looking at with their blinders off and the Macalope didn’t expect that.”

The Macalope Weekly: Wrong about the iPad | Tablets | MacUser | Macworld.

I think that this fundamentally misunderstands whats happening on the ground. In the mid-90s I remember PCs arriving in offices, purchased on the stationary budget and network cards for PCs on expenses.

Employees are buying and using iPads. IT departments are hating it, it’s just that they don’t have the choice.
