iMac working again…
So how did I get the iMac working again?
Simple, I put in the installation DVD and went 24 hours back in time.

If you read the business papers, they give the impression that all hardware is now a commodity, that everything is assembled from off the shelf parts. Either they’re wrong or Apple is about to change that.
It just shows that very few things are really commodities.
Failed isn’t the right term…

I think I understand the point but we got to this place by choice.
In the early 80s western governments decided that the way forward was for us all to work more. That way we would beat communism and save the world. There would be no central planning, no social controls and we’d all work a lot harder.
If we want to move away from the current model, it’s not just about measuring wealth. It’s about how we value the different roles in society and how we value intangibles.
If John wants to start that fight; fine. I think that he knows what he’ll be doing for the rest of his life!
iMac Finder dies…
Since I updated to the latest versions of Quicktime, iMove etc. yesterday the Finder on my iMac is repeatedly crashing. This includes the icons in the top right hand corner of the screen disappearing and then reappearing every 15 seconds.
Other applications crash when launched at well.
I managed to stop the Finder window crashing by moving from using Coverflow to the standard directory listings but the icons at the top right still crash and the machine is unusable! Firefox and Safari seem unaffected.
Any ideas of how to solve this would be gratefully received!
